A condition known as presbyopia develops as the flexibility of the eye’s lens decreases with age.
Eye strain, headaches, and hazy near vision are some of the symptoms.
A pinhole effect that enhances near vision is produced by pupil constriction by the acetylcholine receptor agonist aceclidine, which is an ingredient in Vizz.

Pregnancy Warnings:
Pregnancy category: N/A
Lactation: Excretion in human breastmilk is unknown
Pregnancy categories:
Category A: Satisfactory and well-controlled studies show no evidence of risk to the fetus in the first trimester or in the later trimester.
Category B: No evidence of risk to fetus found in animal reproduction studies and there are not enough studies on pregnant women.
Category C: Adverse effects on the fetus found with evidence in animal reproduction studies and no adequate evidence for an effect in humans, care must be taken for potential risks in pregnant women.
Category D: There is adequate data available with sufficient evidence of human fetal risk from various platforms, but despite potential risks may be used only in emergency cases for potential benefits.
Category X: Drugs listed in this category clearly outweigh risks over benefits. These category drugs should be prohibited for pregnant women.
Category N: There is no data available for the drug under this category.
Pharmacology:
The FDA approved Vizz based on the findings of three Phase 3 CLARITY 1 and CLARITY 2 trials that were double-masked, randomized, and controlled.
The potential to improve near vision within 30 minutes and for up to 10 hours was demonstrated by both studies, which met all primary and secondary near vision improvement objectives.
Pharmacodynamics:
Muscarinic receptors on smooth muscles are stimulated by cholinergic muscarinic receptor agonists.
Miotic in the pupil and mostly selective in the iris with little ciliary muscle activation.
It produces a pinhole effect that increases depth of focus and enhances vision by contracting the iris sphincter muscle.
Pharmacokinetics:
Absorption:
It has peak plasma concentration of 2.114 ng/ml.
It is available in eye drops forms for ophthalmic administration.
Remove contact lenses prior to the instillation of aceclidine ophthalmic drops. Contact lenses may be reinserted 10 minutes after administration.
Apply topical ophthalmic treatments more than five minutes apart if more than one is being used.
After usage, dispose of the unsealed single-dose vial. Avoid keeping in freeze.
After taking the pouch or vial out of the refrigerator, it can be kept at room temperature for up to 250C, but it should be used within 30 days.
Generic Name: aceclidine   Â
Why do we use aceclidine?
Aceclidine is used in treatment of presbyopia i.e., for near vison loss.
In this condition it is difficult to see objects up close and require holding reading materials further away to focus on them.
