Actions and spectrum:

Friluglanstat is an inhibitor of microsomal PGE synthase 1. This activity reduces the proinflammatory effects of PGE2 thereby reducing inflammation. Studies in rodents showed that this drug did not cause any mucosal erosions like NSAIDS.

Why do we use friluglanstat?

Friluglanstat is an investigational drug currently under clinical trials. It is being studied for use in mPGES1 induced inflammation and pain. It is an inhibitor of PGES (prostaglandin E synthase). This is studied as an alternative to COX-2 inhibitors.
