Action and spectrum:
Action:
A corticosteroid hydrocortisone binds to glucocorticoid receptors to decrease inflammation and immunological responses.
By acting as a counterirritant and having mild local anesthetic properties, crotamiton, an antipruritic and scabicidal drug, lessens itching & irritation.
Spectrum:
The spectrum activity of this combination drug is beneficial in treatment of itching, inflammation, insect bites & eczema.

Pregnancy consideration: It is generally not advised to take when pregnant, especially during the first three months.
Lactation: Excretion of the drug in human breast milk is unknown
Pregnancy category:
Category A: well-controlled and Satisfactory studies show no risk to the fetus in the first or later trimester.
Category B: There was no evidence of risk to the fetus in animal studies, and there were not enough studies on pregnant women.
Category C: There was evidence of risk of adverse effects in animal reproduction studies, and no adequate evidence in human studies must take care of potential risks in pregnant women.
Category D: Adequate data with sufficient evidence of human fetal risk from various platforms, but despite the potential risk, and used only in emergency cases for potential benefits.
Category X: Drugs listed in this category outweigh the risks over benefits. Hence these categories of drugs need to be avoided by pregnant women.

Hydrocortisone acts as corticosteroid & Crotamiton acts as antipruritic agent.
Pharmacodynamics:

Absorption
Topically applied hydrocortisone is absorbed through the skin. Crotamiton is absorbed to a limited extent through the skin.
Distribution
Crotamiton’s distribution in the body is limited, and it is primarily retained in the skin.
Metabolism
The hydrocortisone/crotamiton topical metabolism primarily occurs in liver.
Elimination and Excretion
The hydrocortisone/crotamiton topical both are excreted through urine.
Administration
The route of administration is oral.
Apply a thin coating of the drug to the affected skin area.
