Primary dose: 0.5 ml subcutaneous dose, 2 doses separated by 4 weeks
Booster dose (for a person at continued risk of exposure to variola virus, monkeypox virus): 0.5 ml every 2 years or at least every 10 years

Pregnancy consideration: Live virus vaccines cannot be used in pregnancy due to maternal and fetal outcomes.
Lactation: Smallpox and monkeypox vaccine (live, nonreplicating) excretion in breast milk is not known. Do not use during breastfeeding considering the risk of infant exposure.

Mechanism of action:
It is a live third-generation vaccine containing Modified Vaccinia Ankara.
It is non-replicant and cannot cause disease in humans or reproduce in human cells. It generates humoral and cellular responses to Orthopoxviruses.
Subcutaneous:
Administered into the upper arm SUBQ only.
Do not mix with other vaccines.
