applying resorcinol with trifarotene topical on the same area may lead to excessive drying and irritation of the skin
Actions and Spectrum: Â
Action:Â
Trifarotene restores normal keratinocyte development by activating RAR-Îł receptors in the nuclei of skin cells. It prevents acne precursor lesions by blocking microcomedone formation. Its selective action on RAR-Îł reduces irritation compared to other retinoids.Â
Frequency definedÂ
 >10%: Â
Mild dryness on the skin, face  Â
Mild scaling on the skin, face Â
1-10%: Â
Irritation Â
Sunburn Â
Severe dryness Â
Severe scaling Â
Pruritis on the application site Â
Contraindications:Â
Hypersenstivity: Trifarotene shouldn’t be used by those allergic to its active ingredient or other components.Â
Pregnancy consideration:Â
It is not recommended to use trifarotene when pregnant. Â
Lactation: It is contraindicated during breastfeeding. Â
Pregnancy category: Â
Category A: well-controlled and Satisfactory studies show no risk to the fetus in the first or later trimester. Â
<b>Category B: There was no evidence of risk to the fetus in animal studies, and there were not enough studies on pregnant women. Â
Category C: There was evidence of risk of adverse effects in animal reproduction studies, and no adequate evidence in human studies must take care of potential risks in pregnant women.    Â
Category D: Adequate data with sufficient evidence of human fetal risk from various platforms, but despite the potential risk, and used only in emergency cases for potential benefits.    Â
Category X: Drugs listed in this category outweigh the risks over benefits. Hence these categories of drugs need to be avoided by pregnant women.    Â
Category N: There is no data available for the drug under this category Â
Pharmacology: Trifarotene is a topical retinoid.Â
Pharmacodynamics: Â

Pharmacokinetics: Â
Absorption Â
Trifarotene, a topical retinoid, is applied as cream or gel to the skin and absorbed to reach target cells, like keratinocytes in hair follicles.Â
Distribution Â
Trifarotene targets retinoic acid receptors in skin cells due to its localized distribution within the skin layers.Â
Metabolism
Trifarotene may be metabolized by skin cells after it’s absorbed.Â
Elimination and Excretion
Trifarotene is likely eliminated locally or through shedding of skin cells.Â
Administration: Â
The route of administration is topicalÂ

Why do we use trifarotene? Â
Trifarotene treats mild to moderate acne vulgaris by clearing clogged pores and reducing inflammation.Â
It effectively addresses blackheads and whiteheads associated with comedonal acne by expelling blockages from pores.Â
