Caution: 

• tromantadine should not be applied to open wounds and broken skin. 
• Avoid the contact of tromantadine with the eyes.

tromantadine prevents the viruses from entering host cells. It does this by interfering with the fusion of the viral envelope with the host cell membrane.  

This inhibition prevents the virus from gaining access to the cellular machinery it needs for replication. 

Pharmacodynamics 

tromantadine’s effect is its potent antiviral activity against herpes simplex viruses.  

By inhibiting viral entry, it reduces the severity and duration of symptoms associated with HSV infections.

Why do we use tromantadine? 

tromantadine is indicated for the treatment of certain viral infections, caused by herpes simplex viruses (HSV).
