Participant::For years, the FDA has been proposing plans to reduce nicotine in cigarettes. Until recently, this proposal has had no support from the ruling government, but now the Biden administration is strongly supporting it.
The Biden Administration has stated that they want to introduce a rule which limits nicotine in cigarettes to nonaddictive levels — a move which could drastically reduce smoking rates in the country.
According to The Washington Post, the FDA said they aim to “ to reduce youth use, addiction and death. If nicotine were reduced, many users would have a greater ability to quit, and young people could be prevented from becoming regular smokers.”

Participant::Lowering the nicotine content of cigarettes is different from designing cigarettes that have low nicotine delivery as tested by cigarette smoking machines. The latter types of cigarette, once advertised as ‘low tar and nicotine’ or ‘light’ cigarettes, generate low yields in machine tests due to design features such as a faster rate of cigarette burn, increased ventilation and other factors, but do not involve reducing the nicotine content of the cigarette tobacco.Smokers of such purported low-yield cigarettes are easily able to compensate for these low-yield cigarettes by taking bigger and more frequent puffs, blocking the ventilation holes with their fingers or lips and/or smoking more cigarettes per day.Reduced nicotine content cigarettes can be designed similarly to regular cigarettes, except for the lower nicotine content. As the nicotine content is decreased in cigarette tobacco, it would be extremely difficult or impossible to absorb substantial levels of nicotine by smoking cigarettes more intensively

Participant::Nicotine isn’t the problem, it’s just the chemical responsible for making it addictive. The troublemaker is the burning and smoke and the tar which damages and
destroys the alveoli, which can be found in air anyways from other sources.
As far as nicotine as a carcinogen is concerned, there are lot’s of other carcinogens available in the environment, even UV rays and X-rays are capable of triggering cancer can you ban them, can you banish them? -

Participant::Manufactured cigarettes imo should be banned. That’s not to say that natural tobacco should though. It’s been shown that all the chemicals and additives to make manufactured cigarettes continue to burn are the real issue. Tobacco itself is a lot less harmful than some would lead you to believe.. and nicotine has shown to have some benefits with targeted use.
