Moderator::A recent comprehensive study, the largest of its kind to date, has revealed a significant and troubling trend in cancer diagnoses among individuals under 50. Over three decades, from 1990 to 2019, there has been an alarming 80% increase in cases of early-onset cancer globally. This surge has seen the number of individuals in their 40s, 30s, and even younger diagnosed with cancer rise from 1.82 million in 1990 to a staggering 3.26 million in 2019.
Tragically, this rise in early-onset cancer has been felt most acutely regarding mortality. The study has uncovered a 27% increase in cancer-related deaths among adults under 50. Astonishingly, this means that over a million individuals under the age of 50 are succumbing to cancer each year. In 2019 alone, 1.06 million under-50s lost their lives to this devastating disease, representing a 27% increase compared to the figures 1990.
This alarming trend also exhibits significant disparities between high-income and low- to middle-income nations. While genetic factors are believed to play a role in the rise of early-onset cancer, the study highlights several key lifestyle-related risk factors. Diets characterized by high consumption of red meat and salt and low intake of fruits and dairy products, alongside alcohol and tobacco use, emerge as primary contributors to the most prevalent cancers among those under 50. Additionally, physical inactivity, excessive weight, and elevated blood sugar levels have been identified as contributory factors.

Participant::Cancer cases are largely on the rise among individuals under 50 pointing to several causations or risk factors lead by lifestyle factors.Other factors include but not limited to environmental factors, genetics etcetera.
On lifestyle related factors,it points back to the type of diets we consume especially the centimillenials who nearly all they consume is processed or manufactured with chemicals in use. This is coupled with consumption of less and less of fruits rich in vit E which is a powerful agent in fighting cancer. -

Participant::Due to the early exposure of radiation such as gamma Ray’s which damage the granular layer of the skin and causes skin cancer. Reason being that young people are more in such firm and company eg the radiation plant of Nigeria, and offshore jobs and rigs. These Ray’s penetrate to the cornified subcutaneous and hair follicle leading to a site of the skin n.

Participant::Globally, early-onset cancer cases rise as a result of lifestyle factors. With this increase, more people in their 40s, 30s, and even younger have been diagnosed.
The main causes of the most common malignancies in people under 50 are found to be alcohol and tobacco use, combined with diets heavy in red meat and salt and low in fruits and dairy products. Additionally, it has been determined that being inactive physically, being overweight, and having high blood sugar levels are contributory factors. -
