Why is it acceptable to prioritize cultural practices like female genital mutilation? More than 200 million girls and women alive today have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM) in 30 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia where FGM is practiced. FGM is mostly carried out on young girls between infancy and age 15. FGM is a violation of the human rights of girls and women. Treatment of the health complications of FGM is estimated to cost health systems US$ 1.4 billion per year, a number expected to rise unless urgent action is taken towards its abandonment.
The practice has no health benefits for girls and women and causes severe bleeding and problems urinating, and later cysts, infections, as well as complications in childbirth and increased risk of newborn deaths. Where FGM is a social convention (social norm), the social pressure to conform to what others do and have been doing, as well as the need to be accepted socially and the fear of being rejected by the community, are strong motivations to perpetuate the practice. Some people believe that the practice has religious support, although no religious scripts prescribe the practice. Religious leaders take varying positions regarding FGM, with some contributing to its abandonment.

Why? Because it is misogynist dominant, abusive cultures who find Abuse towards women their accepted sport. All middle eastern cultures are to some degree abusive to women and both sexes of children. Bullying is a tactic used by NARCISSIST types of cultures. It is evil & there is ZERO reason to defend these EVIL BEHAVIORS & more so when these people are GUESTS in other, civilized countries

Most of the time, Cultural traditionalist just follow suite. Because it has been passed down from generation to the next. Regardless of educational progress. Children are unable to fight back. Awareness of the concequences should be enforced and reiterated. This a Human Rights violation
