Yesterday, at its health-focused event, Google revealed a slew of health-related product changes, including Search. Specifically, the company said that it would make it easier for customers to locate cheap healthcare facilities in their area. In the near future, search results will include providers that identify as community health centers and offer free or low-cost treatment.

If a medical facility offers economical care, “Free or low-cost care” will shortly appear next to its name in search results. As per Tech Crunch, during a briefing with reporters, Hema Budaraju, Google’s senior director of product for health and search, stated that information on community health clinics in the United States that provide free or low-cost care would be available.

We’re focused on these facilities because the access to primary care they provide has been shown to have a positive effect on chronic illnesses, the use of preventive treatments, and emergency room visits. This information about community health centers is based on publicly accessible data from the Health Resources and Services Administration, which includes all federally qualified health facilities that are registered.

Google also said that it would make information on Medicaid re-enrollment easier to locate on Search. During the pandemic, millions of Americans signed up for Medicaid. At that time, the requirement to re-enroll annually was suspended, but that suspension is set to expire on March 31, meaning that individuals who fail to re-enroll will lose their health insurance coverage.

To assist consumers prevent this, Google is making it easier to discover information on Medicaid re-enrollment on Search. By gaining access to state-specific information about re-enrollment, users will be able to determine the steps they must take. Google stated that it employs innovative techniques to ensure that Search provides users with current information. The business disclosed that its conversational AI technology, Duplex, has called thousands of U.S.

healthcare providers to confirm their information on Google Search. Google has also utilized Duplex to determine if doctors in a state accept specific Medicaid programs. Also, the internet giant is collaborating with Throughline, a global network of mental health and crisis helplines, to boost the number of crisis helplines that appear at the top of search results in additional languages and countries for suicide, domestic abuse, and other crisis themes.

Google intends to make more of Fitbit’s Health Metrics Dashboard available without a subscription to Fitbit users with compatible devices in regions where the capability is available later this month. The feature enables you to detect variations in your breathing rate, skin temperature, blood oxygen levels, and more.

With this update, according to Google, users will be able to view trends across longer time periods and gain insight into which indicators changed from their baseline. Google recently announced that clinicians can claim video from the Harvard Medical School Continuing Education YouTube channel for Continuing Medical and Continuing Nursing Education credits.

In addition, the firm is collaborating with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to develop best practices for video production and content strategy that will assist accrediting bodies in producing even more CME-eligible content on YouTube.
