President of the United States (U.S) Donald Trump has signed a Presidential Order to match the cost of prescription medicine for American taxpayers and citizens. The Order authorizes the Secretary of Commerce and the U.S Trade Representative to take steps to prevent intentional and false reposting of market prices by other developed nations. The Order also states that the Administration should inform pharmaceutical companies about price targets to make the nation the world’s biggest buyer and supplier of prescription medications.
The Secretary of Health and Human Services created a system that allows American patients to purchase their medicines directly from the manufacturer. The President once again implemented measures to prevent medicine manufacturers from charging Americans excessive prices for their products, along with offering other wealthy countries massive discounts. During the first term as President, Trump decided to prevent senior citizens from paying more for medicines than other developed nations.
The president wants to make America great. To achieve this, he ordered a suitable pricing system for American patients and taxpayers. American citizens should have access to affordable medicines, as compared with other developed countries, to stop the misuse. If the same medicines that were manufactured in the same company, then this will not cost citizens three times as much.
American citizens should not be charged more for similar products in the U.S to avoid supporting expensive prescription medications. The administration must take quick action to discontinue international freeloading at the event, which denies providing American customers with a reasonable price. The Secretary should confirm that imports under section 804(j) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) are not harmful to the health and safety of the citizens. The Secretary of Commerce, along with the chief of the department, should assess the export of pharmaceutical medicine that contributes to global pricing injustice and take all necessary action.
This guideline will be carried out with the relevant legislation, as it depends on the availability of funds. During the Biden Administration, the biggest success was negotiating costs that were 78% higher than those of 11 related countries, rather than resolving this problem.
The execution of Most-Favoured-Nation assures that U.S citizens will receive the best price worldwide due to the ability for patients to buy directly from manufacturers. This Order focuses on reducing medication prices and improving transparency in the Medicare sector. This will help to establish the U.S as the most powerful buyer, and they will not continue to support cheap drug prices globally at the expense of American consumers.
