According to Nation World, there have recently been health advantages associated with the usage of Viagra. In 2021, the Cleveland Clinic’s Unit for Genomic Medicine used a gene mapping network to develop a drug that guards against Alzheimer’s disease.

New observational research published in the Journal of Sexual Prescription, supported by the pharmaceutical firm Sanofi, suggests that men who use this prescription may lower their risk of early mortality related to erectile dysfunction.

Researchers arrived at this conclusion after reviewing the medical records of nearly 23,000 male Americans who were administered a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5i) inhibitor, generally known as Viagra, for 14 years.

As a comparison group, 48,000 men’s health data who were not taking medicine were used.PDE-5i have been demonstrated to give extra health advantages for men with type 2 diabetes and previous cardiac issues and their efficacy in treating erectile dysfunction.

Recent studies have connected PDE-5i medication for erectile dysfunction to a decreased mortality risk and significant adverse effects from cardiovascular disease in otherwise healthy men.

Guys who could show they had been prescribed Viagra had a 39% lower chance of dying from cardiovascular disease than men who couldn’t. They were 13% less likely to have a heart attack and 25% less likely to die for any reason.

Even after controlling for possible confounding factors such as age, medication, illness history, and smoking, the study cannot prove cause and effect because it is an observational and fundamental retrospective analysis. The study discovered that those who took higher dosages of Viagra had better cardiovascular disease protection.

This study found that PDE-5I may improve cardiovascular health in men, albeit this may be because they can have sex rather than any direct pharmacological effects (or Viagra users have better health than non-users).

The researchers discovered that phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors were not only safe but may even be beneficial to the heart. The next essential step would be undertaking large-scale clinical trials in a controlled setting to validate the findings.

Numerous experts have emphasized the need for more research, underlining the need for a randomized clinical trial in which a significant number of patients with cardiac difficulties are randomly assigned to take Viagra or a placebo. The medicine is being tested to discover if it genuinely improves cardiovascular health.

Deepak Bhatt, Mount Sinai Heart director and New York physician, stated that while Viagra may give some cardiovascular benefit, further research is needed, and this study does not confirm it. He believes the contrary is true: those who took Viagra from the start had a lower risk of acquiring cardiac problems.
