good case scenario bur a rare case!
She might be suffering from Coeliac disease, a condition where immune system attacks own tissues when people eat gluten. This damages gut (small intestine) so people are unable to take in nutrients. Coeliac disease symptoms included diarrhoea, abdominal pain and bloating. So malnutrition is obviously with result of weight loss.
