Actions and spectrum:
Felypressin attaches itself to the V1a vasopressin receptor. This results in the smooth muscle in the vascular bed, particularly the venules, small arterioles, and capillaries, contracting.
Frequency not defined
Vasoconstriction of coronary artery

Allergic reactions on the skin
Black Box Warning
No special warning is available for this drug
Contraindication/Caution:
Contraindication:
Hypersensitivity
Pregnancy consideration:
USFDA pregnancy category: the drug is not recommended for use in pregnancy due to its vasoconstriction property
Lactation:
Data about the excretion of felypressin into human milk has yet to be studied.
Pregnancy category:
Category A: Studies that were well-controlled and met expectations revealed no risk to the fetus in either the first or second trimester.
Category B: There was a lack of studies on pregnant women and no evidence of risk to the fetus in animal experiments.
Category C: there was evidence of risk of adverse effects in animal reproduction studies, and no adequate evidence in human studies must take care of potential risks in pregnant women.
Category D: adequate data with sufficient evidence of human fetal risk from various platforms, but despite the potential risk, and used only in emergency cases for potential benefits.
Category X: Drugs listed in this category outweigh the risks over benefits. Hence, these categories of drugs need to be avoided by pregnant women.
Category N: There is no data available for the drug under this category

Why do we use felypressin?
Felypressin is chemically like vasopressin. It is a synthetic analog of vasopressin. It has less of an antidiuretic effect than vasopressin. It is an ingredient in preparations that have been used to treat oral pain and inflammation, as well as a vasoconstrictor in local anesthetic injections for dental use.
