Pharmacology
Wogonin is an O-methylated flavone derived from the Chinese herb Scutellaria radix which has anti-inflammatory characteristics. In addition to suppressing inflammatory mediators like cyclooxygenase-2 and inducible nitric oxide synthase, it also prevents Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma-mediated phosphorylation and NF-κB-P65 activation. In osteoarthritis chondrocytes, wogonin also reduces inflammation by inhibiting Interleukin-6 under IL-1β-stimulated conditions.
Pharmacodynamics
Further clinical trials must be performed to study the pharmacodynamic activity.
Pharmacokinetics
There is no much information available on the ADME
Administration
According to the study in mice, it is administered through intraperitoneally, but research is under process and the other routes of administration is not fully known.
