cefotaxime

0.5 g IM given once for urethritis or cervicitis
0.5 g IM given once for Rectal gonorrhea (females)
1 g IM given once for Rectal gonorrhea (males)



minocycline

100 mg orally every 12hrs for five days for urethritis in men
200 mg initially followed by 100 mg orally every 12hrs for at least four days for infections other than urethritis and anorectal infections in men



ceftriaxone

Indicated to uncomplicated cervical, urethral and rectal gonorrhea due to Neisseria gonorrhoeae and pharyngeal gonorrhea
250 mg IM as a single dose
500 mg IM as a single dose for less than 150 kg
1 g IM as a single dose for at least 150 kg



amoxicillin 

Mild/moderate/severe:

3

g

as a single dose



pivampicillin 


Indicated for Gonococcal urethritis
1.5 gm orally one time along with 1 gm of probenecid Bacterial infections
500 mg orally two times a day
In severe infection conditions, the dose may be doubled



ceftizoxime 

The usual dose 1 g IM or IV thrice a day



Dose Adjustments

Renal Dose Adjustment
In case of renal insufficiency, the usual dose of ceftizoxime depends on the CrCl. If the CrCl is below 5 mL/min, then 0.25-0.5 g a day or 0.5-1 g via IV or IM in 2 days after undergoing dialysis. Loading dose is standard in renal insufficiency, which is 0.5-1 g. 0.25 -1g twice a day if CrCl falls between 5 and 49 mL/min and 0.5 – 1.5 g thrice a day if CrCl is between 50 and 79 mL/min

bacampicillin 

Mild/Moderate: A dose of 1.6 g is given orally with 1 g of probenecid as a single dose

Moreover, in the US the drug bacampicillin is no longer used and marketed



mezlocillin 

Mild/Moderate: A dose of 1-2 g IV or IM given in one dose and probenecid 1 g given orally at the time of dosing or before 30 minutes



piperacillin 

Mild/moderate: A dose of 2g IM given per day once
