Action:

Spectrum: 

Allergies: It alleviates symptoms of allergic conditions such as hay fever (allergic rhinitis), allergic conjunctivitis, and skin allergies. captodiame can help with symptoms like sneezing, itching, watery eyes caused by allergies.

Contraindication / Caution

Contraindication/Caution:  

Hypersensitivity: Do not use captodiame if you have a known hypersensitivity or allergy to captodiame or any of its components. Allergic reactions can be severe and life-threatening. 

Respiratory Depression: captodiame may lead to respiratory depression, characterized by slowed breathing. Therefore, it is advisable to exercise caution or consider alternative medications for individuals with respiratory ailments such as asthma, COPD, or sleep apnea, as it can potentially worsen these conditions. 

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: The safety of captodiame during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been well studied. Unless the possible advantages outweigh the hazards and only when under the guidance of a healthcare practitioner, it is generally advised to avoid using it during these times. 

Liver or Kidney Impairment: Patients with significant liver or kidney impairment may need dosage adjustments or should avoid captodiame due to potential drug metabolism and clearance alterations. 

Glaucoma: captodiame can increase intraocular pressure, which may harm individuals with glaucoma. It should be used with caution or avoided in such cases. 

Seizure Disorders: captodiame may lower the seizure threshold, potentially increasing the risk of seizures in individuals with a history of seizure disorders. It should be used cautiously in these individuals.
