Structural Heart Disease: Individuals with structural heart disease, such as cardiomyopathy or severe coronary artery disease, are at an increased risk of experiencing proarrhythmic effects from encainide and should generally not use it.Â
Severe Heart Failure: encainide can depress cardiac contractility, and its use is generally contraindicated in patients with severe congestive heart failure.Â
